  1. National Doctor’s Day is observed on 1 July across India to pay tribute to the esteemed Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned doctor and one of the most influential designers of India’s contemporary healthcare system. This day is also celebrated to appreciate and honour the valuable contributions of doctors and healthcare professionals in India. The theme of National Doctors’ Day 2023 is “Celebrating Resilience and Healing Hands”.
  2. National Chartered Accountants Day, also known as ICAI Foundation Day, is observed on 1 July to commemorate the establishment of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on 1 July, 1949. The theme of National Chartered Accountants Day 2023 is “Empowering Financial Excellence”.
  3. National Postal Worker Day is observed on 1 July to show gratitude and recognize the tireless efforts of postal workers.
  4. Goods and Service Tax (GST) Day is annually observed on 1 July to commemorate the implementation of the GST system, a comprehensive indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India.
  5. The Punjab Government has appointed a 1993-batch IAS officer Anurag Verma as Chief Secretary.
  6. IT Company L&T Technology Services has partnered with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for the deployment of private 5G network for enterprise customers.
  7. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has announced the appointment of Haoliang Xu of China as Under-Secretary-General and Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He will succeed Usha Rao-Monari of India.
  8. India has been removed from the UN Secretary-General’s annual report on the impact of armed conflict on children, citing the country’s improved measures to protect children.
  9. Ajay Banga, the President of the World Bank, has been recognised on the Carnegie Corporation of New York’s annual ‘Great Immigrants’ list.
  10. FIFA informed that the 2023 Club World Cup will take place in Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah.  
  11. Canara Bank, in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has announced that its customers can now utilize their RuPay Credit Cards on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform.
  12. The New York City Mayor Eric Adams on 26 June, 2023 announced that Diwali will be added to its list of official public school holidays.  
  13. GAIL India Limited, a leading natural gas company in India, has been bestowed with the prestigious Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) T3 status by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Ministry of Finance.
  14. Canada launched the ‘Digital Nomad Strategy’ to address its skilled labour shortage, particularly in the tech industry.
  15. Virgin Galactic, the venture founded by British billionaire Richard Branson, achieved a significant milestone as it successfully conducted its first commercial suborbital flight, named Galactic 01.
  16. On 29 June 2023, Veteran United States actor Alan Arkin, who received four Academy Award nominations and won an Oscar Award passed away in Carlsbad, California, USA at the age of 89.
